Our latest drop was two sets of trophies for The Children’s Trust. The trophies are for high school students participating in the Youth Advisory Committee – a youth leadership program designed to nurture the next generation of change-makers committed to positive change in themselves, their communities, and the world.
These 16 trophies for the Youth Advisory Committee contain a total of 1,104 grams of unrecyclable plastics farmed from South Florida communities & coastlines. This is equivalent to about 2,200 plastic straws or 110 single use plastic water bottles.
The Flame trophies have an average of 56 grams of unrecyclable plastics, and each of The Children’s Trust logo trophy has an average of 82 grams of unrecyclable plastics farmed from our coastlines and communities. Also, new this year is our own nameplates! Instead of printing nameplates on new plastics from a trophy shop or engraver, we have made these plates using just ink and birch veneer.
Their support has also brought us closer to our mobile recycling workshop — more on that coming soon! Thank you to The Children’s Trust for their service to our community and for their support. Thanks to supporters like you and them, Free Plastic has been able to successfully recycle 8,269 grams of unrecyclable plastics.
That is the equivalent of over 16,000 plastic straws or 820 single use plastic water bottles.
